A Valiant Effort
I’m disappointed to report that we did not win the Chickahominy supervisor seat. We made a great effort, especially for an independent campaign in an area with strong party politics in place. I know we left it all on the field and I’m proud of that.
I want to congratulate Angela Kelly-Wiecek for running a strong, energetic campaign. I know Angela as an involved, intelligent citizen and I am sure we will continue to find opportunities to talk and work together on issues facing the county and the people.
My sincere thanks to everyone who voted and volunteered and donated and simply cared about this race. Some worked like yeomen (and yeo-women); some fit in what they could, when they could. All were absolutely indispensable and appreciated.
My thanks go also to my campaign manager, Jared Calfee, who did a great job in maximizing the impact of our campaign. He worked very hard and very capably to make this effort a success. It was a pleasure to work with him.
I wish Angela Kelly-Wiecek great good fortune, wisdom and energy as she takes on the responsibilities of representing the residents of the Chickahominy district.

Let's Defeat These Cynical Tactics at the Ballot Box Nov. 8
I'm grateful and proud to announce that I have received the endorsement of the Hanover Civic Association following the HCA candidates' forum on Oct. 13. The forum featured some great questions from the membership posed by moderator Robert Barnette, president of the Hanover County Chapter of the NAACP. Thank you, HCA, for your vote of confidence.
I am running for Chickahominy Supervisor to:
- Maintain strong education and public safety services
- Reconnect government to the citizens it serves
- Achieve high-quality growth by incorporating citizen input in the designs of larger developments
- Strengthen the county’s approach to green infrastructure and parks
- Televise or webcast meetings of the Board of Supervisors and Planning Commission
- Place greater emphasis in the county’s economic planning on agriculture, locally-owned businesses, tourism and better access to high-speed Internet
Where is the Chickahominy District?
Click here to see the map (map downloaded from http://www.co.hanover.va.us/board/redistrict/default.htm). The district has a new shape for 2011 after the 2010 U.S. Census. Most of Kings Charter is now in the Ashland district, as well as all of Kingswood Court, Castlewood and Atlee Ridge. New to Chickahominy for 2011 are Royal Glen, Crown Colony, Hanover Crossing, Bell Creek, Verdi Lane and Henry Clay Heights. Polling places have also changed in some precincts, and the number of precincts has gone from five to four. The four precincts for 2011 onward (until the next redistricting in 2021) are Atlee, Clay, Cool Spring and Shady Grove.
