Citizens For Jim Ellis Chickahominy Supervisor

Reconnect government to the citizens it serves

Citizens are unhappy with how their government relates to them in general. I want to create a better ongoing relationship with citizens, conservation groups, neighborhood and civic associations, and faith communities so we can get a more diverse range of input for guiding key government decisions. We obviously should continue to include the industry in these discussions, but we need to add citizens to the mix. The industry has advocates in the form of trade associations, lobbyists and legal representatives. I believe the Supervisor should be the citizens’ advocate. More generally, the county should increase volunteerism in fire/EMS, parks and recreation, and other county operations to save money and engage the citizens. The citizens I have talked to agree they are ready for a change.
